Reflecting Sister Pond

I have finished a group of big paintings in the last week. Here's another of them. I call this "Reflecting Sister Pond," because the trees look like sisters to me. Take a look at the "personalities" of the trees.

Blazing Autumn

Here's a painting that is very dear to my heart. It is of my husband, Robert, walking the trail behind our house. I love the dramatic lighting and the subject matter! : )

This a painting of my Aunt Mary's porch on Sullivan's Island, SC. This house has been our family for generations and is the oldest house on Sullivan's Island. I painted this image before on a smaller scale and decided to make a larger work out of it.

Summer Fun

My cousins, Eliza and Emily, spent some time in my studio this Summer.
It was very nice to see them. Each went home with a work of art.

My niece, Rebekah, came and also created art with me.

She used flowers to make prints. Much fun!

Just got in a big order of paint. Making notes in my sketchbook (devoted to color swatches) of the new colors and combinations with the old ones. Fun, Fun, Fun.

Been having some fun!

After the Piccolo Spoleto show each year, I take some time to rest and have fun. Here's what I did this year.... a Stained Glass Mosaic Garden Bench.

Step one....talk husband into putting a concrete bench on the coffee table.

It is okay to paint the legs outside!

Tried several designs.

Ended up liking this one best.

All the tiles have been glued down

Putting on the grout.

Finished!

Dusk on Mt. Pleasant, SC I and II

I saw these two landscapes when my sister moved to her new house. This is just down the road from her. I keep watching that spot, but nothing has been as pretty as the first time I saw it. Funny how it works like that!

When preparing to show in Charleston, SC, I always do some small palmetto trees. We are, after all, the palmetto state! It's fun playing with this great shape with lots of different color combinations.

"Home of the Brave"

"Home of the Brave," Oil, 36x48

This is my home. I was raised on Sullivan's Island, SC, and this is my favorite spot there. This is my largest painting ever and the most vivid color ever. An artist friend told me that I would be brave to leave it like this instead of "finishing" it. Well, that's how it got it's title, "Home of the Brave." Hope you like it.
