When preparing to show in Charleston, SC, I always do some small palmetto trees. We are, after all, the palmetto state! It's fun playing with this great shape with lots of different color combinations.

This is my home. I was raised on Sullivan's Island, SC, and this is my favorite spot there. This is my largest painting ever and the most vivid color ever. An artist friend told me that I would be brave to leave it like this instead of "finishing" it. Well, that's how it got it's title, "Home of the Brave." Hope you like it.

I love painting white. You get to put every color in the box into white. I recently saw a painting by Monet that was so luminous. He had used so many different colors to get that effect. I tried to use some of the same colors here.

Back to my Juicy Fruit series. It is nice to get back to the study of color and form. Fruit just seems to be tailor made for it. Colorful and beautiful.

This is a marsh I love to visit with my nephew, Bobby. We always take lots of pictures. This painting is from one of his pictures. I want to paint a large one of it, but used this small format to think about color. The large one is started, but just in the drawing phase right now. More to come...

This was a fun little painting. It is an image from Lake Murray, SC. Oh, such good memories there. I seem to be doing a lot of reflections lately. Hmmm... Wonder what will be next? I do have another on the easel with reflections. That should be coming up soon.

Catching Up

I have been having a great beginning to the new year in my Studio - Here's an image of what I am working on. Also, below are details of the paintings you see above. I will show you the whole thing when I am finished. It shouldn't be too long now. I have been in the studio every spare moment. - Loving every minute of it.

Here's my latest large painting. My Aunt and I went riding around at dusk, and this moon just begged to be a painting! It was a challenge to get the light just right to create the atmosphere of dusk with a moon rising.

Here's the latest in my "Juicy Fruit" series. I love painting lemons. It is the only time I can paint with yelllow straight out of the tube! Both are 6x6 oils.

Feeling Peachy
