Sorry to Keep you Waiting...

"Smooth Landing" Oil, 24x36

I have finally finished "Smooth Landing." I gave you a peek of it in a previous post (here). I loved painting this - then I hated painting this - then I loved it again. So, I figured that was a good place to stop. I started by putting in the reflections, which was a blast. Then I struggled with finding the right value and shade of blue for the water and sky. What finally did it for me was putting a very thin wash of burnt sienna over the whole thing.....go figure. Falling in love again.


Here's a study I did to try to figure out what to do.

I have completed "November Marsh." I loved working with this color palette. The landscape itself came from a photo my nephew, Bobby, took when we were at Palmetto Park on Mt. Pleasant, SC for his mother's birthday. Way to go Bobby!

Sometime I Wonder....

Sometime I wonder where my paintings have gone and what kind of surroundings they enjoy. With these three paintings I don't have to wonder! My friend Judy has some of my best paintings and they are definitely enjoying their surroundings!

Catching Up

I have been having a great beginning to the new year in my Studio - Here's an image of what I am working on. Also, below are details of the paintings you see above. I will show you the whole thing when I am finished. It shouldn't be too long now. I have been in the studio every spare moment. - Loving every minute of it.

Here's what I have been working on. It was such a delight. This portrait is a gift to my eldest nephew, AJ. I hope he likes it as much as I liked painting it for him.

I had great fun painting this memory for Laura. This is a painting her sister and her in their annual Summer attire: bikinis and keds. It's a Christmas gift for her Mom.......ssh.

Here's my latest large painting. My Aunt and I went riding around at dusk, and this moon just begged to be a painting! It was a challenge to get the light just right to create the atmosphere of dusk with a moon rising.

Art Camp

Art camp was a complete success this year. We started with funny faces....




Then got down to the business of creating visual communication! The kids really know how to speak the language!





We had a bunch of fun!

And, of course, terrific art was created. Each student went home with a pile of great new work.

Pucker Up

Here's the latest in my "Juicy Fruit" series. I love painting lemons. It is the only time I can paint with yelllow straight out of the tube! Both are 6x6 oils.

Feeling Peachy

Some say Georgia has the best peaches. I guess they have never tried a South Carolina Peach! They have been especially good this year. Here are a couple peach paintings. Both 6x6 Oils.
