Dusk on Mt. Pleasant, SC

Dusk on Mt. Pleasant, SC I and II
oil, 8x10
I saw these two landscapes when my sister moved to her new house. This is just down the road from her. I keep watching that spot, but nothing has been as pretty as the first time I saw it. Funny how it works like that!

State of the Palmetto

Small Palmettos are 5x7 oil on board

When preparing to show in Charleston, SC, I always do some small palmetto trees. We are, after all, the palmetto state! It's fun playing with this great shape with lots of different color combinations.

"Home of the Brave"

"Home of the Brave," Oil, 36x48

This is my home. I was raised on Sullivan's Island, SC, and this is my favorite spot there. This is my largest painting ever and the most vivid color ever. An artist friend told me that I would be brave to leave it like this instead of "finishing" it. Well, that's how it got it's title, "Home of the Brave." Hope you like it.

River Keeper

"River Keeper"
48x24
Oil
Here's my latest large piece finally finished. I have been working on this one a long time. This beautiful bird greeted me the first time I went to Saluda Shoals Park. I followed behind taking picture after picture. When this pose was struck, I knew it would be the one I would paint. What a beautiful creature.

Southern Bloom

"Southern Bloom"
Oil 5x7
I love painting white. You get to put every color in the box into white. I recently saw a painting by Monet that was so luminous. He had used so many different colors to get that effect. I tried to use some of the same colors here.

"Lemon Sliced"

Back to my Juicy Fruit series. It is nice to get back to the study of color and form. Fruit just seems to be tailor made for it. Colorful and beautiful.

Color Study - Marsh at Station 26

"Color Study - Marsh at Station 26"

Oil 5x7

This is a marsh I love to visit with my nephew, Bobby. We always take lots of pictures. This painting is from one of his pictures. I want to paint a large one of it, but used this small format to think about color. The large one is started, but just in the drawing phase right now. More to come...

Here Today; Gone Tomorrow

"Table Rock Trail Head"
Oil, 24x30
This painting was inspired by my trip to Table Rock State Park in the Artist in Residence program. It was absolutely beautiful there. This painting was fun to do and now has a good home in Columbia. My newest patron came by my studio in the Vista and fell in love with it before the paint was dry!

You Get a Line

"You Get a Line"
Oil 11x14
This was a fun little painting. It is an image from Lake Murray, SC. Oh, such good memories there. I seem to be doing a lot of reflections lately. Hmmm... Wonder what will be next? I do have another on the easel with reflections. That should be coming up soon.
